It is a winter evening sometime in the 1940s. In a warm studio, a man in a sleek suit stands on a stool with a glass of water and an orchestra softly tuning its instruments.
That man is none other than Frank Sinatra, the singer known for his warm voice and elegant style.
That evening, he is recording a cheerful winter song: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
The funny thing about this song is that it actually **isn’t even about Christmas**. The songwriters — Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne — wrote it on a sweltering day in **Hollywood**.
It was so hot that they started fantasizing about snow, cold, and a cozy evening inside by the fireplace.
And that is exactly the feeling you hear when Sinatra sings it.
In the song, someone is sitting comfortably inside while the snow keeps falling outside. The fire crackles, the popcorn is ready, and actually, no one wants to go home, because inside it is warm and cozy. But eventually, goodbyes must be said… and then the snow suddenly turns out not to be so bad at all, as long as you are together.
When Sinatra sings it, it sounds as if he is personally telling you that winter story. His voice glides smoothly over the melody while the orchestra behind it sounds like falling snowflakes.
Since then, the song has become a true winter classic. As soon as the first cold days arrive, you hear those familiar words everywhere again:
“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…”
And suddenly, even a dark winter evening feels a little warmer. ❄️🎶✨
